Inspiration

We were inspired by the First Insight prompt for a game to guess prices for different products. We also used this game as an opportunity to compare the prices for men's and women's products to see if there is a difference in actual prices or the guessed prices.

What it does

Guestimate goes through a series of pictures, asking the user to guess the price of the product, rate the product, and leave a comment about the product. Then, at the bottom of the screen, it shows the results of each submission in the game, comparing the guessed price to the price of the product set by major retailers.

How I built it

Guestimate was built in html and javascript.

Challenges I ran into

Most of our members had no previous experience with html, javascript, and web development in general, so we needed to learn the languages in order to do the project. We also had some challenges working with GitHub pages.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud of being able to create a project in languages that we had no previous knowledge in. We are also proud that our group worked well together.

What I learned

We learned javascript and html. We also learned that we have the ability to make a project in a short amount of time with little previous experience. We learned how to work in a team to create a project of our own, making all of the decisions about how the game should look and how to code it.

What's next for Guestimate

Ideally, we would develop it further and fix the issues like the formatting. We would also implement a back end for out project, and find a way to store the data in a more effective way. Then we could use it to help companies collect data about consumers and their expectations for products.
