Inspiration
The inspiration in behind GuardianID is that many elderly wanders from their homes or nursing homes which lead nurses, caretakers, and family members concerned about their whereabouts.
I had a experience where an elderly individual was walking on the lane in the Palmetto highway and they were trying to go back home. Due to experience in the police academy during high school, I called 911 and gave them the directions of where he was. Thankfully, they were able to find him.
What it does
GuardianID is a technology-drive solution designed to help identify elderly individuals quickly and compassionately, especially in situations where they may be lost, confused, or unable to communicate. It combines facial recognition and QR code technology to create personalized ID cards that links to emergency contact and medical information.
How we built it
We used the Pycharm to execute the Python program.
Challenges we ran into
The challenges that I faced that I create different files that did not execute the project since I was trying to create the QR generator, Face Capture, API Server, User Profile (Json). Therefore, I decided it was best to make it simple by focusing on creating the identification card.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The accomplishments I would say is that I was able to create the identification card to show the name of the individual, DOB, medication and health condition, the emergency code, and the QR code for "GuardianID" website.
What we learned
I learned that I will need to create the code in a series of parts to function entirely of the original goal.
What's next for GuardianID
Create a Profile Link that leads to the GuardianID website Using API for the facial recognition through mobile and web cameras Updating the appearance of the identification card
