Inspiration

This project draws inspiration from the millions of farmers still at the cross roads of getting valuable insights into optimising their farms for maximum value. It also aims to prune the land and soil to both deliver its maximum yield and maximum profit.

What it does

The product aims to act as a conglomerate for agribusinesses and large scale farmers to collaborate by make intelligent choices from our AI based model to maximise productivity and maintain biodiversity and sustainability

How we built it

The solution utilized a US demographic dataset of farm productivity based on location and time of the year. This dataset was used to develop a cluster based algorithm that can accurately segregate map locations were a certain crop would yield maximum profit. At the same time the product also caters to farmers who can get intelligent advice in the form of the best crops to grow at a time of the year.

Challenges we ran into

Preprocessing the dataset was a major challenge to deal with in a limited amount of time as it was in a blank text form with a lot of missing rows. Additionally catering to a wind range of farm features in the form of nutrients, historic cultivation and crop rotation were major challenges in the design process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were successfully able to build and deploy a UI that can cater both agribusinesses and large scale farmers to help them get intelligent insights towards the ideal crops and locations to target in the United States.

What we learned

We learned a ton of information that many farmers require from climate to nature of the soil and the seasonal changes that go into producing a yield that is both sustainable and profitable

What's next for GrowWise

Our product aims to bring in small scale farmers into the fold as well who do not have the same leverage as large scale farmers and suffer form a long duration of idleness when their crops are not in season.
