Inspiration

We have always wanted to make a big project together, like a legend of zelda clone in command prompt, party game in unity, monopoly, etc but we never could collaborate effectively on a project.

What it does

It's a networking app that allows for people to make projects on something they are really passionate about and build a community or find group members that also share that passion and learn together by completing a goal! They do this primarily by working, forming a team, problem solving, sharing resources and working together!

How we built it

We built our website using Django, a web framework for rendering HTML documents on the server side, as well as offering easy to use functions to create an interface with an SQL database. We started off primarily by building the backend and any API endpoints that would be needed to connect to the front end. This meant configuring proper authentication, building object models to represent our project ideas and user profiles, and setting up the URL routes. The front end was built using pure HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Data was served to our front end using Django’s template engine, which was then formatted and styled with our front-end code.

Challenges we ran into

Definitely our biggest issue was connecting the front-end and back-end together along with focusing on the design aspects of the website and managing our time with the competition rubric in mind. Although people could use a website maker service to create the website themselve, we wanted to throw all the knowledge we obtained from hours of research and the workshops to create a fully functioning front-end and back-end. Also... our video footage had to be looped when we ran out of footage. We spent from yesterday morning till today morning working on the code and we're just barely making the presentation work at the end!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We feel extremely proud that we were able to come together and work effectively as a team and create something truly tangible for the first time.

What we learned

We have learned together, that communication, compromise and group-problem solving is extremely crucial to our effectiveness as a team. If we all approach a problem and troubleshoot it we can definitely find an amazing solution.

What's next for Group Work Project Networking Service

As a team, we're really motivated to give our past ditched projects another shot as a real team! We definitely want to move to Unity and create a toon-shader party game.
