Inspiration

Clothing has a traditionally horrible carbon footprint. According to reports, around 40% of clothing is worn very rarely or not even worn at all. For the manufacturing of a T-shirt 2700 liters of water are needed, and for a sweater, around 4400 are required. We want to make people aware of their wardrobe's and dressing habit's environmental impact in an innovative and simple way.

What it does

Our application creates a digital twin of a user's closet and allows them to see, what kind of impact every individual clothing item has on the environment based on its tracked usage. The user can also scan his current outfit and add he current upper body clothing (such as shirts and jackets) as well as the pants that he/she is wearing. Different statistics and progress are also displayed in a gamified way to encourage the user to use the app and optimize their wardrobe's carbon footprint.

How we built it

We took advantage of the power of the cloud to utilize computer vision techniques alongside the exciting Svelte framework to create a responsive, user-friendly and innovative app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have been able to integrate object detection techniques for a sustainability motive.

What's next for WearPerfomance

This is just the beginning, we at WearPerformance already plan to integrate many additional features such as real-time analysis of clothing, bring analytics into play and using the gathered information to possibly predict and produce recommendations of environmentally friendly fashion pieces by taking into account user behavior.
