How can we give 10 billion people in 2050 a sustainable future in 2050? Whatever that means, this plan will need serious funding. Classic portfolio management is about short term portfolio profit optimazation. But we are living in times where even goverment bonds have negative interest rates. With our tool we want to enable investors not only to maximize their longterm profit, by doing a sustainable investment, but also maximizing the profit for society. What it does
Our application analysis the sustainability of companies based on news articles found on the web. In a first step we categories the news articles into themes (social, governance, environment). Furthermore we determine how relevant the news snipped. Based on this information we predict a sustainability score. We make use of this data by providing a webpage interface where investors can analyse their portfolio to improve the sustainability based on personal preferences.

Front end designed using HTML, CSS, JavaScript Backend: python, flask, tensorflow, keras, sci kit learn Data collection: CSV files
Challenges we ran into
- Teamwork division before solution
- Not analysing data before devising solution
- Finding effective ways to handle inconsistent time series data
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to tackle done the first to classifing challenges of the workshop #9. We reached reasonable score in classifing categories for different news. As well we have a very nice prototype webpage which helps imagine our end product.
What we learned
We have learned a lot. The most impact had probably that the longer the day got the harder the communication was as well focusing on the problems we planed to implement. On the technical side every one of us made experience with new tools
