Inspiration

GreenIQ was inspired by the urgent need to integrate environmental education into our daily lives in a fun, interactive, and impactful way. We aim to leverage the power of digital technology to educate, inspire, and empower individuals to take action for our planet.

What it does

This is an interactive website that engages users in an educational game focusing on environmental awareness and conservation. Users log in to embark on virtual adventures where they learn about various environmental issues, such as climate change, pollution, wildlife conservation, and sustainable living practices. The game is designed so that there is a leaderboard that shows the top 5 scores, and you can get your account on the leaderboard! Your score is based on your longest streak of correct answers, but if you get something wrong your streak ends!

How we built it

GreenIQ was built using web development technologies and game design principles. The website was created using React.JS, ensuring a user-friendly interface. It was fully designed using Figma allowing us to make a great user interface! The educational content was developed in collaboration with environmental experts to ensure accuracy and relevance. The game mechanics were designed to be engaging and educational, utilizing interactive elements. Finally, we deployed using Firebase so that the site can be accessed anywhere, anytime!

Challenges we ran into

One challenge that we ran into was how everything was being displayed on the site. We had some trouble organizing things, but in the end, we were able to make it right! We also experienced some trouble correctly storing high scores for users and then forming a leaderboard from that info.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have developed a platform that makes learning about the environment fun and engaging. We successfully integrated complex environmental concepts into an accessible and enjoyable game format. Additionally, we overcame technical challenges to ensure a smooth and secure user experience.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned a great deal about game development, user interface design, and the importance of user feedback in creating an effective educational tool. We also gained insights into various environmental issues and the importance of sustainable practices. Finally, collaborating as a team taught us the value of diverse skills and perspectives in solving complex problems!

What's next for GreenIQ

Looking ahead, we plan to expand GreenIQ with a more complex game, covering a broader range of environmental topics. Additionally, we want to work on a feature to track and showcase the real-life impact of our users' learning, where users can display the changes they have made in their daily lives to be environmentally conscious. Our ultimate goal is to continuously evolve GreenIQ into a comprehensive environmental education and action platform.
