Inspiration
Social media often highlights environmental destruction, leaving people feeling powerless or limited to donating money without seeing real impact. Meanwhile, urban communities struggle with civic engagement and a lack of green spaces. We wanted to create a platform that makes sustainability social, tangible, and rewarding, empowering people to take direct action in their own neighborhoods.
What it does
Greenify connects users to local tree-planting initiatives and environmental projects, fostering real-world community engagement. Users can: ✅ Discover nearby events and sign up with friends ✅ Earn points and rewards by participating in reforestation efforts ✅ Track their environmental impact through tree logs and leaderboards ✅ Support local businesses through sponsorships and incentives By turning environmental action into a social experience, Greenify makes reforestation fun, accessible, and community-driven.
How we built it
We developed Greenify as a mobile-first platform using Figma
Challenges we ran into
Encouraging business participation while maintaining the platform’s environmental mission
Accomplishments that we're proud of
🌳 Creating a platform that bridges digital engagement with real-world impact 🌍 Developing a scalable model for urban reforestation and community building
What we learned
🔹 People want to help but need an accessible way to get involved, frictionless user experience is key 🔹 Community is a strong motivator, the social aspect of reforestation boosts participation 🔹 Local businesses are eager to engage in sustainability efforts when they see direct community impact 🔹 Gamification and tracking metrics encourage long-term participation rather than one-time engagement
