Inspiration

Our inspiration came from the real struggles of nonprofit teams. We saw how time-consuming and repetitive grant writing can be, especially when the same stories and data are buried across countless documents. Teams often know what they want to say, but it takes hours to find past answers, tailor them for each grant, and ensure their mission and values come through clearly. We wanted to create a tool that brings all that knowledge to the surface by saving time, reducing burnout, and helping teams focus on impact instead of paperwork.

What it does

Semi-automates the grant questionnaire portion in applications; will take Harvest House’s old stories and grant requests as models for current AI generated answers using these five steps: Upload current grant request and specify which questions you want help answering Connect Grant Genius to Google or OneDrive on your computer Grant Genius will search all past documents to find relevant information Grant Genius will produce requested information Perform human review of material before final submission

How we built it

We used Lovable to help us quickly generate a functional prototype of our website. With its AI-driven tools, we were able to streamline the design and development process, allowing us to focus on building features that matter such as document search, content generation, and language accessibility. Our team integrated Google Drive and OneDrive support to pull relevant information from past grant documents, and we built an interface that lets users upload new grant requests and select specific questions they need help answering. By combining intuitive design with AI assistance, we created a tool that helps teams write grants more efficiently, capture their stories, and communicate their mission with consistency.

Challenges we ran into

No access to the actual company's database storage so we had trouble implementing the Google Drive API, etc. for the story libraries.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Developed a functional prototype with user friendly interface and easily scalable with low funding, reducing overhead on grant applications.

What we learned

Through this challenge, we learned how to design a tech solution that directly supports nonprofit needs, specifically around streamlining grant writing. We collaborated and realized how important it is to focus on accessibility and simplicity when it came to designing our project. Overall we developed stronger collaboration skills, dividing roles based on each members strengths, and improved how we present complex ideas clearly.

What's next for GrantGenius

Specifying emotions/mood, diction, syntax, etc. for certain generated responses. Also, for scalability purposes using a centralized database instead of Google Drive/Outlook to handle mass volume and improve performance speed.
