Inspiration
We were inspired to make this project by our fascination for training models as we get more acquainted with machine learning. We as students all go through an academic struggle in our lives and figured it would be useful to have someone we can rely on, or in this case, an AI tool that can give us solid advice.
What it does
This tool uses machine learning using Vellum AI and Gemini APIs to provide feedback to the user based on the results from the survey on our web app and past data sets.
How we built it
We built it using React for the frontend, Flask is for the backend, Vellum AI API and Gemini API for training and analysis, and finally Auth0 for a login page.
Challenges we ran into
Most of our challenges revolved around trying to get the Vellum API working and trying to think of how we wanted to start off the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of having built this app in the short amount of time that we were given. It took a lot of hard work and collaboration. We're all commuters, some of us staying some days while others not, and we're proud to have been able to submit something to the hackathon.
What we learned
We learned a lot about the languages we used, as well as how we organize ourselves in Github. Trying to use machine learning in this project was also very new for some of us and Flask for example was new to everyone on the team. It was a very fun experience trying to figure it all out together.
What's next for GradeHabits
Hopefully, we're able to add some features to this and also polish it a bit more as a project. Perhaps we can look into other ways that can help people academically and integrate it into out website.
