Inspiration

Imagine a world where sustainability meets hilarity, and capybaras are the heroes. That's where "GORT - The Capybara Chronicles" comes in. Inspired by the absurdity of office life (think "The Office" but in a jungle), our game takes the mundane and flips it on its head, all while promoting environmental consciousness. Backstory: GORT, our unlikely capybara hero, was once a top-notch accountant in the animal kingdom. But after a hilarious mishap involving a photocopier and a packet of mulch, he finds himself ousted from the corporate world and thrown into a zany adventure. His nemesis? The notorious Ice Spice Toad, an amphibian with a cold heart and a knack for freezing the environment with his icy glare.

What it does

GORT is not just a game; it's an experience. Players navigate through vibrant blue landscapes, made whimsical with packets of mulch that serve as power-ups (and sometimes comedic trip hazards). The twist? Our game console is crafted from recycled cardboard pizza boxes, blending sustainability with gaming fun.

How we built it

We started with two things: a love for capybaras and a pile of pizza boxes. From there, it was a whirlwind of coding, designing, and more than a few coffee-fueled late nights. Our team's motto? "If it doesn't make us laugh, it doesn't make the cut."

Challenges we ran into

Everything from convincing Ice Spice Toad to chill out (literally) to figuring out how mulch packets can be both a background element and a power-up. And let's not forget the challenge of shaping pizza boxes into a functioning game console.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Honestly? We're just amazed we got this far.

What we learned

That sustainability can be fun and funny, and that capybaras are surprisingly relatable.

What's next for GORT

We're planning to expand the GORT universe with more sustainable gaming accessories, like controllers made from recycled flip-flops. And of course, we're always brainstorming the next big comedic twist. Maybe GORT will run for office in the animal kingdom? Only time will tell.
