Inspiration

We were inspired by the large amount of focus on investment in our current day and age. Everyone is constantly telling you to get started without giving a lot of concrete information as to how specifically. Especially as young adults, it's important to gain financial knowledge now.

What it does

Our revamped Google Finances combines an onboarding survey that assess your investment knowledge with a customized experience that includes educational features such as video lessons, limited access to markets based on user level, and a real market based simulation game for users to practice making investment decisions.

How we built it

We built our product through Figma by initially designing our vision based off the current Google Finances before utilizing Figma Make and Prompt Engineering for the back end of the final product

Challenges we ran into

We faced the challenge of balancing the wide range of audience we were trying to cater to. We didn't want to drive away expert investors if the platform became fully educational while still lowering the barrier of entry for less experiences investors. We also faced challenges coordinating ideas and how each feature would look depending on the level of user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our final decisions for how the experiences for users with different skill levels would differ while still retaining the information needed. By allowing limited access to different markets, we tried to create an easy to digest intro to investment for beginners and by opening up more information to markets as the user progressed, it allows the user to grow without becoming overwhelmed.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to decide what features are important in a product by considering user personas, research, and designing an MVP. We also learned a lot about how to plan ahead before building and utilizing Figma through the process.

What's next for Google Finance Revamp

We envision that Google Finances would adopt this platform to expand the user base and through our onboarding survey, collect data about who our users are and better tailor video lessons and other features. With stronger AI models, the delivery of information becomes even more accessible and customizable for learning. Google Finances will benefit from this continuous improvement in AI through better training on the Gemini side and more data from a wider audience of users.
