Inspiration
Wanting to use more than just one piece of data from the watch. We brainstormed a bunch of ideas such as a watch panic button and dashboards that display processed data. We in a way implemented small features and elements from these.
What it does
Parents can set daily fitness and sleep goals for their child to try and gamify getting active and healthy.
How we built it
- Started with a brainstorming session.
- Quick design process on Figma drawing out how objects connect with each other and how they interact with the database. What GETs, PUTs, and POSTs to the database.
- Split into two groups. Group of 2 does parent view frontend and back end. Another group of 2 does child view front end and backend.
Challenges we ran into
- Finding a creative idea and sticking to it.
- Simulating real-time data, constructing a data pipeline
- Working with the assumption of a hardware device
- Changing object designs early in the coding process
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- UI
- Database integration
- Believe it's a creative idea
What we learned
- Early organization is extremely important. We shouldn't just immediately jump straight into coding as that can create more issues in the middle and towards the end of the project creation process.
What's next for GoalGetters
- Introduce a virtual currency that children can use to buy rewards set by their parents
- Allow users to connect with their friends and see their progress
- Add a community feature for larger groups of children to use it together (e.g. gym class)
- Allow children to set their own goals
