Inspiration
There are millions of homeless animals on the streets that run away from their homes and are then thrown into homeless shelters. Our app will assist in the finding of lost animals before they are taken to shelters. Go Fetch is produced in conjunction with the Best Friends Animal Society of Utah.
What it does
Go Fetch works with Google Maps to let users report and search for lost pets in their geographical area.
How I built it
We built it using the Ionic Framework. We used web-based languages to create our mobile application in Ionic. All reports are stored in a Firebase online database. When users search for lost pets, a real-time search happens on our Firebase database.
Challenges I ran into
We ran into a lot of challenges with syncing the Firebase and the mobile application. Various syntax errors along the way.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
None of us had prior experience with app-making technologies. We learned quite a lot about app development. Web-based programming languages have neve been any of our strong suits. We overcame many hurdles along the way.
What I learned
We learned a lot about app development utilizing Ionic Framework. We also learned a lot about angular.js and programming across the multiple languages.
What's next for Go Fetch
Finishing touches, streamline the interface, include the ability to upload photos of lost animals and contact their owners.
