Our team developed GlobalBridge Connect with the goal of addressing the challenges underserved communities face in accessing basic resources like food, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. We saw that these communities, particularly those living with poverty, racial redlining, and prejudices, face difficulties in accessing these basic resources. We wanted to help these people access these resources more easily by creating a website that can transform “resource deserts” into a map of opportunities. We accomplished this by creating a simple and easy-to-use interface with HTML and CSS and a backend with Python to handle searches and data. Most of our data on local organizations and their services was entered manually to ensure accuracy and reliability. We also used Claude to help us create some codes and speed up our development process. We learned a lot from this project, like creating a full-stack project and presenting data in an organized and effective way. We also learned to integrate automation with manual verification. However, our major challenges included keeping our data accurate and reliable, making our site accessible to everyone, and making our site helpful to disadvantaged communities.
