Inspiration

Canvas Invaders, inspired by the classic Space Invaders game, turns submitting assignments into an engaging experience.

Canvas Invaders provides a competitive and interactive solution that motivates students to stop procrastinating and submit their assignments!

What it does

The minigame models a project that tracks assignment scores as "ammo" points for users to use them in a gamified manner, motivating them to submit assignments on time (if we had access to RMIT canvas API). Players can destroy other players' castles, upgrade their own castles, and compete with course mates performance on a scoreboard system.

How it was built

The app was developed by a python library called pygame.

Challenges encountered

Debugging. Fixing game logic. Designing graphics.

Accomplishments to be proud of

Successfully created a gamified learning environment that encourages healthy competition among students, leading to increased motivation and productivity with assignments and deadlines.

Key learnings

Time management, collaboration, python, how to use the pygame library to build a simple game within time limit.

What's next for Git Lit

Plans to connect to the API from LMS to obtain student assignment marks to track live progress of students and deadlines of assignment.
