Inspiration
As the only girls interested in Computer Science in our schools, it can be very lonely. Girls Coding Community is inspired by Reddit and serves as a bridge to unite Girl Coders from around the world. In addition, it serves as a platform to teach beginners about coding. This is for the social inclusion track the She Builds Hackathon at the University of California - Berkeley
What it does
Schools and beginner coders can use our free educational resource, Girls Coding Community, to test their knowledge of HTML, CSS and Python.
How we built it
Our team used web-development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript. In addition, we used Github for version control.
Challenges we ran into
It was difficult to manage coding on the same page at the same time as we were overwriting each other's code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a working, bug-free educational resource in 24 hours that can inspire others to learn more about technology, and how it works!
What we learned
I learned about the value of having good teammates.
What's next for Girls Coding Community
We hope to improve the design of the website, and the functionality to include a space for users to submit blog posts, and communicate with each other.
