Inspiration
As female identifying individuals we have often faced unsafe at night and been in uncomfortable situations. This problem is big amongst not only female identifying individuals but non-binary as well and therefore we thought, what can we do to help such individuals feel safer and more comfortable? With that in mind we decided to make a mock-up of an app that can help everyone feel safer.
What it does
Girlie Guard has a community of people and in real time you can see a map with little pins that represent all the other girlies out there to help you. If you need help you can choose the text or call now option and the app sends out an alert to all the girlies near by. The first one to accept the request gets connected and the unsafe girly now has someone reliable they can talk to. There is also the option of calling a constable if the situation is very bad.
How we built it
Since it is a mock-up we made the prototype using Figma
Challenges we ran into
Our prototype does not have code in it and therefore some parts of the prototype (i.e.decision making between accept/decline) was hard to implement because no code was there to do the decision making.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of our design as we maintained an aethestic throughout the whole prototype
What we learned
We learned more about chatbots and the UI/UX process.
What's next for Girlie Guide
Since this is a mock-up, our next steps for Girlie Guard would be to actually make the final product using the prototype as a guide.
