Inspiration
We were inspired by Grammarly and how it works inline with the HTML on the page. We wanted to expand this concept from just grammar help, to anything the user wants to query.
What it does
Gemini Helper creates a text box which allows the user to query about any selected text.
How we built it
We used React and the gemini API to create this project.
Challenges we ran into
It was difficult to figure out how to grab text based on the user's cursor. It was also difficult to get the look we wanted while keeping the extension functional.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The final product turned out to be very useful and fun to tinker with.
What we learned
It is important to be able to modify your original vision to create a better final product.
What's next for Gemini Helper
We are working on changing the project to an inline chrome extension (think Grammarly) which will make it even easier to use.
