Inspiration
GeeseClaims was inspired by the recent LA wildfires and the struggles experienced by younger affected individuals who were making their first insurance claim. The goal of GeeseClaims is to take away the stress of making an insurance claim by guiding the user through the entire process from start to finish.
What it does
GeeseClaims guides the user through the process of making an insurance claim, adding prompts and reminders to help them make a direct claim to their insurer through our site.
How we built it
The website was built using HTML, CSS and JavaScript in the frontend and deployed to Google Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
Given our limited experience with web development, we ran into several challenges when deciding on a framework to build GeeseClaims. After consulting a few mentors, we ultimately decided to keep it simple and use JavaScript without a framework.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were proud that we were able to build and design a frontend application from start to finish given our lack of experience. A few members of our team also celebrated completing their first ever hackathon and being to deploy a viable product in such a short time.
What we learned
We learned a lot about of UI, front-end development, web development tech stacks, deploying to the cloud and collaborative coding through building this website.
What's next for GeeseClaims
