Inspiration
We were inspired by the challenge to create a new and innovative way of banking and the overall retro theme of the hackathon, to create a fun and quick maze game to play before withdrawing and depositing funds.
What it does
Gator Bank is a retro maze game that provides a short and nostalgic challenge to stimulate the mind of the ATM user prior to making a major financial decision.
How we built it
We built the game using python, the pygames module, and graphic design software for the maze and user interface.
Challenges we ran into
In order to create this game, all members of the team had to learn the python programming language and work with external libraries for the first time. We also had to brush up on version control and git in order to collaborate more effectively.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have been able to learn and become skilled in python and pygames, as well as creating a game that is fun and promotes innovation in banking.
What we learned
Not only did we learn python and how to use python libraries, we learned more about software design principles and coding as a team by using version control and following clean code guidelines.
What's next for Gator Bank
We hope to be able to implement our Gator Bank game into ATMs across the University of Florida campus so that all UF students can have their days brightened by the joy of depositing and withdrawing money with a slight challenge.
