Inspiration

Our group read about the GAMA project on the WHO website and thought it was a very important and under-recognized problem that needed greater attention, especially during a pandemic.

What it does

The GAMA project recognizes that young people between the ages of 10 and 19 years play a crucial role in achieving many of the Sustainable Development Goals. So to improve adolescent health measurement globally, WHO, in collaboration with UNAIDS, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF, UN Women, the World Bank Group, and the World Food Programme (WFP), has established the Global Action for the Measurement of Adolescent health (GAMA) Advisory Group. GAMA measures health behavior's determinants, outcomes, policy and programme implementation which is essential to track progress towards improving adolescent health.

How we built it

Languages/Technologies used HTML, CSS, JS, JQuery, Bootstrap

Challenges we ran into

  • We had troubles getting our contact form to work correctly
  • Many issues with our main header / banner to display correctly
  • Our side navigation bar had troubles tracking what section the user was on
  • We tried to create a video overlay that played then faded to the site

We managed to fix most of these issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We believe that our 1-page layout looks pleasing and is easy to use. We focused on keeping the website look modern and visually appealing while also delivering a functional purpose. But most importantly, we kept our head in the game and tried our very best! We had loads of fun!

What we learned

We got a bit out of scope at the beginning, so next time we need to carefully plan out our tasks. We often had members working on the same code at once, this could be avoided by better planning We also learned that we could create something together in about 24 hours and be proud of it

What's next for GAMA Project

If we were to continue we would stick to our 1 page design, include more information about the GAMA project, add a timeline of their Phases for 2021, and possibly try to create a video overlay again.
