FuturePath

Inspiration

I am currently searching for a program or internship to complete, it has been impossible! Either the opportunities were for college graduates or they were states away. This inspired me to create FuturePath, which helps guide students like me to new opportunities.

What it does

The website is your ultimate guide to finding a career and opportunities that strengthen your application. It includes different careers with descriptions of all of them, along with a built-in Google map system through an API that shows you internships and opportunities near you.

How I built it

I built the website with HTML, CSS, and javascript.

Challenges I ran into

This was my first time using an API and at first, it was very difficult trying to figure out what an API key was and how to make the markers, but I got the hang of it! I am happy with the results!

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that I was able to complete the website! This is one of my first hackathons, and I feel that this project really shows that I have improved, which I'm super proud of!

What I learned

I learned that if you have an idea, then stick to it and everything will fall into place! I began to get stressed when features weren't working, but I took a break, revisited the problem, and was able to figure it out without as much stress! I think knowing when to take a break is a really good lesson to know.

What's next for FuturePath

I plan for FuturePath in the future to include different kinds of career and to expand the opportunity page to include a location filter, or perhaps look at opportunities outside of the US.
