Inspiration

We had disasters in the past which we weren't prepared for. After the grave Texas Storm, Texans were left without information or help. This proves that we need a strong app which can provide people in crisis with the aid they deserve.

What it does

Enter FutoPedic. The application is designed to provide resources considered essential in a crisis. We bring things like a locator map, a news display, a hotline interface to the hands of anyone in a crisis.

How we built it

We built the app with care. FrontEnd- Flutter BackEnd- Google Cloud, Google Firebase, Google Maps API, News API

Challenges we ran into

Implementing the Maps API was a challenge as none of us had any experience with that API. Additionally we ran into some issues with the login page interface with our scroll animation, but we were able to amend that using the container options.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • The Map looks wonderful.
  • The UI proved to be a challenge as we had to create something that was simple enough to be used in a state of panic. We consider it a proud success as it is simple and easy to use. ## What we learned There are any useful APIs that aid the process of creating great applications. We learned this through our use of the Map and News Engine API. ## What's next for FutoPedic Launching the application and working on a state and federal level to get it implemented for people to use. We also want add more features like geofenced search and family tracking down the line.
