🧠 Inspiration

In today’s fast-paced world, businesses still face unnecessary friction when paying employees — from processing delays and high fees to a lack of transparency. Many employees wait days or even weeks for their salaries, while organizations struggle to manage compliance, security, and efficiency. We wanted to reimagine payroll for the Web3 era — a system where payments are instant, transparent, and borderless. That vision gave birth to FusePay, a decentralized payroll platform that brings speed, trust, and empowerment to both employers and employees.

⚙️ What it does

FusePay is a decentralized payroll platform built on Celo, enabling companies to automate salary payments and empower employees with built-in financial tools.

Employers can register, onboard employees, and initiate payments within minutes.

Employees receive salaries instantly in their FusePay wallet, view their payment history, and withdraw to any associated wallet.

Beyond payroll, employees can stake their funds to earn interest or request micro-loans directly from their employer, repaying seamlessly through future income.

The platform issues NFT-based Employee-of-the-Month awards using Olas Mech AI tools — recognizing performance transparently on-chain.

FusePay isn’t just a payroll tool — it’s a financial ecosystem designed for trust, transparency, and accessibility.

🏗️ How we built it

Frontend: Built with Next.js, styled using TailwindCSS, FlowBite UI, and Konsta UI for a smooth and responsive user experience.

Smart Contracts: Written in Solidity and deployed to the Celo Mainnet via Hardhat, ensuring transparency and security of all payroll transactions.

Storage: Company and payroll data are securely stored on Lighthouse.Storage (IPFS), ensuring decentralization and integrity.

Blockchain Integration: RainbowKit and WAGMI enable seamless interaction with Celo wallets.

MiniPay Integration: Allows employees to access FusePay directly through Celo’s browser-based MiniPay wallet — abstracting complex wallet interactions for a frictionless user experience.

Olas Mech AI Tools: Used to mint NFT awards and power the MessagingKit assistant, offering real-time guidance and user support.

🚧 Challenges we ran into

Debugging MiniPay wallet behavior across browsers and networks required multiple deployments and fine-tuning.

Integrating Olas Mech AI tools lacked detailed documentation, so we reverse-engineered workflows and adapted examples.

Managing on-chain storage efficiency while ensuring privacy and speed pushed us to design a hybrid off-chain/on-chain structure.

Coordinating multi-tool integration (Lighthouse, MiniPay, Olas, and Hardhat) demanded precise configuration and version management.

Each challenge strengthened the system and taught us how to make Web3 solutions practical for real-world use.
