FTC - Find trash Cans

A look of our landing page with our custom Blahaj bot

Inspiration

This project was created for our submission in SharkHacks3 hackathon. We were initially inspired to solve one of the common problems we find on beaches (as this environment is fitted to the theme of this hackathon). However, it turns out that our program can also be implemented for anywhere else besides from beaches.

What it does

We provide our users the nearest trash can they can find conveniently. It also shows the way to the nearest trash on the map for the users. We also gives user an option to add a Trash Can if not already present in the map. If users want to tell us about some bug or request feature than they can drop a message in our web chat bot named Blahaj.

How we built it

We built it using React web Framework which is a open-source, JavaScript library for building user interfaces or UI components.

Challenges we ran into

We initially started this project without the React web Framework when we decided it to shift in React it was challenging as three of us have never worked with the React Framework. We faced some problems with bugs. Timezone was also our main concern.

What's next for FTC - Find trash Cans

There are a lot of things that could be improved in our project especially the bugs that we're still having in our map implementation.

I worked on frontend Landing page of our site, as this was first project that I worked on with a team, it was a great experience learned a lot of new stuff. There are still lot of things that we have to improve on our project in future and we are still working on it.
