Inspiration
To make friend-making easier, chiller, and more accessible.
What it does
The user inputs their name, pronouns, and text about their interests. They will also enter three questions and answers about those interests which if matched by someone as their interest, they would be encouraged to meet up in real life.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MongoDB for our database. We used GitHub for both hosting the project and deploying the website.
Challenges we ran into
-Launching the website was very difficult. -Setting up the database. -Build a connection between the HTML and the database. -Other commitments such as midterms and assignments.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have a functional website. We are successfully setting up a working database. Bringing our idea to fruition. Data transfers between the HTML pages and the database.
What we learned
Learning HTML, CSS, and javascript. If you like an idea and you are hesitant to start building, it's a lot more manageable than you think.
What's next for FriendFind
We want to create a curated algorithm that matches users with other users who have similar interests. We want to create our own private end-to-end encrypted chatroom. We also wish to introduce new icebreaker activities other than the quiz. Additionally, we want the users to be able to create their interests on their profiles and not be limited to the choices we provide. Users who send friend requests to other users should be prioritized in the queue of the recipients.
