Friend Evaluator is a web app that allows the user to evaluate their Twitter followers ongoing mood status. Using indico for sentiment analysis, Friend Evaluator takes the first 20 Twitter tweets from a particular follow, evaluates them, and then shows how happy they are. It is written in ruby with sinatra as a server.
The, "real-world", applications for Friend Evaluator could range anywhere from just checking in with friends and long distance family, to corporate overall wellness analysis. As a Resident Assistant, having this application would allow us to check up on the current mental state of our residents, especially the ones we tend to not see all the time. While this is not a completely accurate display of mood and mental health, it allows for a benchmark.
We'd like the extend the webapp to use other technologies for sentiment analysis, such as IBM's Watson and Microsoft Azure, allowing the user to decide which they feel is most effective.
