Inspiration
As people of color, we are disproportionately affected by mass incarceration, and unfortunately, even some of us on the team have had people we know put into the prison system. Talking to the people in the system we saw how the daily monotony of prison negatively affected prisoners. So we decided to create a solution platform to allow prisoners to have positive creative outlets.
What it does
The app allows the user to do a mental health check-in, asking them questions regarding their mental health and then analyzes the response against keywords giving a percentage of the tone of their responses. This data is then recorded and sent to plots to track trends in the user's mental health. It then allows the user to engage in mindful activities like journaling, drawing, and music creating.
How we built it
We built it using a classifier model created by Facebook. This model checks inputted prompts against keywords we provided and returns us the average percentage of the tone based on those keywords. We then used HTML to create a website that included a whiteboard, journal, and a music space.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge we ran into was integrating the code into HTML. That was a challenge as we have never really had to do that in the past.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we executed on every idea we had to a certain extent and put this idea together from nothing
