Inspiration

I've been doing debate for many years at my school, but organization has ALWAYS been an issue, and I've always wished I had some app that could manage my debate case and make it easier to see all of my points in one place while I'm speaking.

What it does

Framework is a website to do just that - help you organize your debate case. The reason it's called Framework is that, in debates, your framework is essentially the method you use to organize your speech. It allows users to plan out their own speech, on both the positive and negative side, and also take notes of their opponent's speeches over multiple rounds. It also contains rich text editors wherever necessary, because sometimes you need a bit more than plain text.

How we built it

I used Next.js, Chakra-UI, and Supabase.

Challenges we ran into

I did this between the hours of midnight and 8 AM, so it was pretty difficult to stay focused and awake. I also had some issues with managing states but I figured it out after taking a step back and going through some sections. Supabase's sign out feature wasn't working for some reason, but I didn't end up needing it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I finished this between the hours of midnight and 8 AM ✌🏽. I'm also pretty happy with the design and UX.

What we learned

I learned a little bit more about Supabase, and it's a really nice backend.

What's next for Framework

I want to add a realtime manager that you can look at during your actual debate speech, where it lists out some of the points you want to emphasize and reminds you to go over certain things.
