Inspiration
I wanted to start working out but struggled with knowing if I was doing the exercises correctly. Watching YouTube videos helped, but they didn’t provide personalized feedback or ensure proper form something many beginners face. Even as I gained experience, I still wasn’t confident about my technique. This sparked the idea for Form Flux: a platform that delivers real-time workout form correction with adaptability, precision, and sleek design. Our goal is to give users the confidence to train smarter at home and create lasting value through a better fitness experience.
What it does
Form Flux uses Gemini’s Live API and MediaPipe Pose to provide real-time feedback on users’ workouts. It guides users with personalized corrections to ensure proper technique, reducing the risk of injury. The platform is compatible with a wide range of devices, making it accessible anytime, anywhere. Users can also track their progress through detailed graphs that visualize improvements in their form over time.
How we built it
We built Form Flux by integrating cutting-edge technologies like Gemini’s Live API and MediaPipe Pose for advanced pose estimation and motion tracking. The front-end is designed to be responsive and compatible across smartphones, tablets, and desktops. Our system processes live video input, analyzes body movements in real-time, and provides instant personalized corrections.
Challenges we ran into
Latency was a colossal challenge. Delivering real-time feedback requires rapid processing of video input and complex body movements, which demanded extensive optimization. We offloaded computations to smaller models and optimized both audio and video processing to ensure responsiveness without noticeable delay. We also faced challenges in adapting the system to perform reliably across different devices and lighting conditions. Designing an interface that delivers detailed feedback without overwhelming users was another hurdle.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Developing a platform capable of delivering accurate, real-time workout form corrections with minimal latency was a major milestone. Integrating Gemini’s Live API and MediaPipe Pose allowed us to build a robust, adaptable motion tracking system compatible with multiple devices. Our sleek, intuitive interface makes complex feedback easy to understand for users of all fitness levels. The progress tracking feature provides meaningful insights that motivate continued improvement. Most importantly, knowing that our work can help people improve their daily workouts or assist them in any meaningful way is incredibly rewarding.
What we learned
Through this project, we gained deep experience in real-time computer vision, motion tracking, and optimizing performance for cross-device compatibility. We learned the importance of balancing technical precision with user-friendly design, ensuring the platform is both powerful and accessible. The challenges we faced sharpened our problem-solving skills, especially in latency optimization and user engagement. Above all, we learned how technology can create tangible value by empowering people to improve their health and fitness independently.
What's next for Form Flux
-Continue reducing latency to optimize real-time feedback responsiveness and ensure a seamless user experience. -Enhance the precision and accuracy of the form correction. -Add more workout types and customizable routines tailored to individual fitness goals. -Notifications/Reminders every day at a specific time. -Implement image generation capabilities to visually highlight areas where a user’s form was incorrect and provide detailed feedback.
