Inspiration

CNBC suggests that 36% of students in campus have unhealthy eating habits and the number isn’t far lower for the average adult either. Eating a balanced diet is esential for athletes, students, and your average person if they want to continue a healthy lifestyle. As such, we wanted to help people develop a healthier eating habit by helping them pick out recipes based on their preferences.

What it does

Our idea was to make a website where people can receive healthy recipes based on their favorite types of food. The website will thoroughly show them how to create their meals to develop healthy eating while still enjoying their food more than before. As students we didn’t know how to make our own food, however, this website will help us by providing a healthy diet.

How we built it

For our Frontend, used HTML to create the basic elements of our website. We used Bootstrap to make our website more responsive and style some of our content. CSS also served for making our website stand out more and really helped in our user interface. For our Backend used Javascript and Flask to send information which then was processed and received using Python.

Challenges we ran into

As we had never worked with Flask before, it was challenging to figure out how to use it at first.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have used frameworks and libraries that we were unfamiliar with. We are proud to have successfully completed a working prototype of our project using a wide selection of tools. We are proud to have created something that could ultimately help many people live a healthier life.

What we learned

We learned how to use Python frameworks such as Flask to develop our website with our Python code. We also learned how to collect user input using html forms and storing it in a local database. We also learned to use that data we collected to create different outcomes and outputs depending on the information the user inputted.

What's next for Foodverse

We hope to keep creating more recipes for our users.
