Inspiration
Back in the old days, pre-pandemic, we and our friends could never figure out where to eat. In the end, we would end up with something that was disappointing for everyone.
What it does
This website helps decide where to go out to eat with your friends.
How we built it
We built in using javascript and html.
Challenges we ran into
Not knowing html, javascript, google cloud platform or having ever set up a domain. We tried to use the Google API to have our website have a restaurant search function but we could not set it up. The load balancer would not point to the bucket correctly, leading to a blank web page.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully made a webpage index file that was on its way to working how we wanted it to. Pinging to www.foodfight.tech successfully routes to the load balancer on Google Platform.
What we learned
We learned the basics of html, applied our current knowledge of other programming languages to script functions in JavaScript. We also learned the basics of cloud services.
What's next for FoodFight
Since we have the domain and did not use much of our google cloud credits, we will figure out how to successfully load a static web page, and from there we can keep working on the webpage file, perhaps moving onto a more complicated and fancier back end with a more polished UI.
