Inspiration

In collage, most students do not have time to go shopping, or they are on a budget. We wanted to create a program that anyone can use that will pick affordable, healthy foods, based on your personal needs.

What it does

This program creates a daily meal plan based off your height, weight, age and activity. It then selects affordable ingredients commonly found in shop-rites and creates recipes.

How we built it

We used python as a back end for the BMR calculations, we used googles gemanai AI to create recipes based of the ingredients, we used wakeferns API to get ingredients and locations. We used ccs, html built with the flask framework.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge we ran into was calling the wakefern api, but we fixed this with a small code that was released later in the day. Another we ran into was the searching algorithm we used, which was supposed to look for 5 food items that were in the calorie range.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

our website is very interactive and useful for college students

What we learned

We learned a lot of problem solving such debugging code.

What's next for FoodDoneFast

Our next step is probably to get google maps API to display images of the nearest shoprites.
