Inspiration
- My inspiration comes from my past experiences performing long endurance drives
What it does
When the IMU detects a sudden jerk in the controls of the aircraft it assumes that something has critical has occured such as the pilot falling asleep on the stick or a critical maneuver is being performed
What the system will then perform is a send this information to a ground control station over the radio frequency modules
How I built it
Materials
- Arduino Uno(s) (2)
- NRF240L1 Modules (2)
- Adafruit BNO055 Orientation IMU Sensor (1)
- Optical LED Display (1)
- Light Emitting Diodes (2)
Challenges I ran into
- Limited amount of tools
- Unintentionally left my tools and other sensors in a lab that I work in and didn't have
- Working alone did leave much of the thinking and spitballing to myself
- Without a real team to help develop the idea or help partition the load the project provided to be a bit more challenging because of this which affected the scope access to them
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Integrated the use of the positional sensor with the radio transceiver module on the arduino
- Performed this hack solo due to the given circumstances
What I learned
NEVER LEAVE YOUR TOOLS AT THE LAB
What's next for Flight Aware Systems
- Integration with a GPS module
- Smaller form factor
- How to macgyver myself within this hackathon
Built With
- arduino
- controls
- radio
