Inspiration
About 3 million kids get moderate to severe injuries playing youth sports in the US every year - that's a lot of physical therapy. Rehabilitating at home can be a challenge, with only 30% of adults sticking with a rehabilitation program post-injury. Our solution is FizzicoolThARapy, a Mixed Reality Game designed for Hololens to gamify physical therapy exercises to help children (including those with handicaps) enjoy exercise and better recover from injury.
What it does
The game gamifies a shoulder rehabilitation exercise where your move your arm in tiny circles. The player moves a missile to hit enemies that are organized in a circle pattern, and when the player hits an enemy the next enemy in the circle appears.
How we built it
We built it using Unity, C#, Mixed Reality Toolkit from Microsoft, and free assets from the unity store.
Challenges we ran into
Lots of bugs, unexpected behavior. Sometimes the game would work but other times not.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Complete MVP of our product.
What we learned
We learned how to make a basic level for Mixed Reality (Hololens) in unity including how write C# scripts and attach scripts and models to game objects.
