Inspiration
During quarantine, it gets difficult for people to go out and exercise. A lot of people feel unmotivated during this time and exercising is one of the most important things to live a healthy life. That's why we created a website that allows people to work out and find exercises at their level.
What It Does
Our website is a series of pages that users can reference for useful information related to fitness and health. There are categories that users can select, which will then prompt them to different pages of the website where they can access relevant information to the category they selected.
How We Built It
We built the skeleton of the website using multiple HTML files and connected all of the HTML files together with hover buttons.
Challenges We Ran Into
The first challenge we ran into was deciding the topic of our project. We wanted to do something related to working out because we initially agreed that people needed assistance to stay fit during quarantine. We had disagreements at first but through thorough brainstorming and discussion, we finally concluded and came to the decision to work on a website with categories users can access. Furthermore, we are all beginners and this is our very first hackathon, it was really tricky to figure everything out, however, we did our best! Another challenge we ran into was making the numerous HTML documents in time. There were 17 HTML files in total and it took us a very long time to create them. We overcame this challenge by dividing up the work and through communication.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
We are really proud of the way the final outcome looks, it is simple but looks very clean. Most of the time was spent learning html and then directing implementing it. The website is simple enough where anyone can navigate through it and research for their own health.
What We Learned
We learned how to make websites using HTML. We are all fairly familiar with html but a bit rusty and this hackathon provided us an opportunity to progress and enhance our skillset. Furthermore, we were able to sharpen our skills in collaboration and communication.
What's Next For Fitness Assistance
Next for Fitness Assistance, we have many ideas in mind. We wanted to add so many features, but due to the limited time, we were not able to entirely complete them. We want to add exercise videos, tutorials, and more pages based on overall health to the site, for example a section regarding eating healthy. For a project in the future, we would create a personalized exercise routine that is based on information provided by a user.
