Inspiration

I was inspired by the recent fires in LA and how many people were caught completely unaware.

What it does

Once you log-in, the app shows you a map of the united states and a pin. You can move the pin by scrolling. Wherever the pin is located, the app will tell you whether the risk of fire is high, medium, or low, and tell you how confident it is in that prediction.

How we built it

Primarily using React-Native and Firebase

Challenges we ran into

It was difficult figuring out how to link all of the API's together and what an appropriate metric for fire risk was.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of the map interface and the log-in screen.

What we learned

I learned a lot about fires and the other tools/organizations that are currently tackling this issue.

What's next for fire-zone-alert

I would like to add other screens with more fire-safety information on it, as well as improving the interface so it defaults to the user's location and also color-codes the entire map.
