FinReflect is an app where users are able to input their financial decisions into an AI chatbox. This will then show them two different alternative choices. A more effective, and financially safe decision such as investing and another option, such as going on a shopping spree after getting your paycheck. With detailed explanations, this app shows users which is the smarter decision and why. Based on what decision the users make, they will earn points, turning this into a gamification app, prompting users to be more engaged. We were inspired to code this project because it has true meaningful impact, especially because nowadays, many people aren't as educated when it comes to their financial decisions. We found it so fascinating how people tend to make their financial decisions, whether all are based on impulsive actions or they think about it thoroughly before making transactions. We personally learned so much from this project. Not only did we learn more about making smart financial decisions, we also learned about different tech stacks. This is one of our first experiences coding so, by creating this full stack website, we learned so much about github, python, HTML, and hackathons overall. We had some challenges when it came to the firebase. Additionally, the backend was giving us so many errors, but through debugging, we were able to resolve most of it. However, the point system for the gamification aspect of this is not entirely working. After the user chooses their financial choice, the software claims that the user earned points. However, the points in the points bar at the top right isn't going up or down. This is something that we were struggling with and will plan to figure out how to implement this in the near future to make it running smoothly.
