Inspiration
We wanted to make a simple app that we would actually find ourselves using in our current university life.
What it does
You log into a room with a custom code. Those that are in your room show up collectively on a map. The map has markers you can customize with your own photo, showing your location to others. It's great for events or finding others on campus!
How we built it
Android Studio with Java. Used Google Maps API and Cloud FireStore.
We used the Google Maps API in order to show where the user is on the world and also where your friends are in the world! Cloud FireStore is used to store user information that allows us to fetch other users in the same room and display them onto the map!
Challenges we ran into
Both of us haven't worked recently on Android Studio. There were a lot of packages and modules to look at, including researching on using the Google Maps API and FireStore.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finished in the limited amount of time, especially with a language and framework that one of us have not used recently.
What we learned
FireStore, Android Studio specific packages.
What's next for FindMeSenpai
