Finding Buddy

Finding Buddy is a website and an app that helps owners reunite with their lost pets by posting pictures and descriptions of their pets through a community database.

Inspiration

Our inspiration for Finding Buddy came from on of our team members experiences with losing a dog as a child. The process was tricky, and we wanted to create something that would ease the stresses of pet owners.

What it does

Finding Buddy uses a community based reporting tool that helps owners reunite with their pets through posts with detailed descriptions and contact information.

How we built it

We built the website component of this project by using Glitch. We used Glitch to code a website with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We used components of all three languages to create the website completely from scratch. The app was made using Figma and Pixlr, with vectors from freepik.com

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we ran into was creating a database. In the end, we were not able to make one as we did not have enough time to link or create a database and we did not have the right tools to do this. Another challenge we faced was ensuring the UI was both aesthetically pleasing and easy to use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Some accomplishments that we're proud of is creating a functioning website with Javascript components. Another thing we're proud of is creating a visually pleasing Figma prototype with an easy to use UI.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned how to create components of a website using Javascript. We also learned how to design professional aesthetics for an app through inspiration from designers around the world.

What's next for Finding Buddy

Up next, our team would love to create a database for Finding Buddy to store Post a Pet posts. This will allow submissions to be shown on any device that accesses the application.
