Inspiration
We were inspired by the multitude of "I found this __" and "Has anyone seen my __" posts on Davis social medias.
What it does
Centralizes the lost in found in Davis, so it will no longer be necessary to visit more L&F's than necessary.
How we built it
We built the frontend with HTML/CSS/Jinja and Bootstrap. We built the backend with the Flask microframework in Python in addition to the Twilio API and SQLite3.
Challenges we ran into
It was difficult for us to make the Twilio badge system work since it was out first time using an API, we overcame it with the help of documentation and the mentors at the event.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We didn't know any of the technologies we used for this project a couple of weeks ago; we're proud that we were able to learn something new and apply it.
What we learned
We learned about API's and all the technologies listed above. Additionally, this was all of our first times using github at a team scale.
What's next for DavisFound
Cleaning up the front end and adding more features to assist with importing L&F data.
We didn't know that zoom links wouldn't be accepted and youtube's taking too long video : https://ucdavis.zoom.us/rec/share/RdyjCarpFNwDVZFMcduBw44ic1BWW_jZxST_ARt_EhM-hRtxl9jzNUe4blERJinl.iFhB4v2iuIGNKJlm
