Inspiration
It is unpleasant to lose something precious to you. When I misplaced my passport at the airport, I panicked. I wished I had known the person who discovered my passport or that person could have notified me that he/she had found it.
It is typical to misplace wallets, papers, credit cards, and phones, but it is extremely difficult to determine where, when, and how they went missing. We frequently have to pay a lot of money to replace the items we have lost. The typical American spends 2.5 days per year hunting for lost belongings, which costs US households $2.7 billion in replacement prices each year.
What it does?
If someone discovers anything, they just take a picture of it, enter their name, and provide the pertinent information about the item. This would make the app's use easier by making items more accessible. A phone call capability is also available to contact someone who has misplaced and discovered an item.
How we built it?
We built this app by using flutter, google cloud storage, Firestore, Google map API, Dart, Java, 3D graphics, kotlin, Google login API and Firebase auth.
Obstacles we faced while developing this application
We encountered several issues when integrating various APIs and managing databases. The incorporation of 3D graphics also caused some issues for us, but it was straightforward in the end. In addition, there were other challenges in creating a user-friendly user interface.
Accomplishments that we achieved
• Making it easier to contact the item's owner directly. • Assisting the user in securely storing their data and making it available to the user. • We made effective use of visuals and UI design. • Finally, we are delighted with our efforts and collaboration in successfully completing our strategy inside the time frame.
What we learned?
We learnt a lot and had a great time with our assignment. We enhanced our ability to collaborate and communicate with one another. We learned about 3D graphics integration while developing the application. We learnt how to link the Google API while constructing a flutter app.
What are the Future Steps?
We want to incorporate the Google Maps capability in the near future to track exactly where the user discovered the item. We also aim to include the meta data option for the various items. A distance Search tool might be used to filter and display articles within a specified distance.
