Inspiration
We were motivated by the significance of financial challenges and the desire to develop a practical and user-friendly app to address them. By creating a tool that is both useful and easy to use, we hope to provide a valuable resource for those seeking to manage their finances more effectively.
We saw the MecSimCalc hackathon as a great opportunity to address this universal challenge and help people make informed financial decisions.
What it does
Our calculator is designed to allow you to view your plan your monthly expenses, set savings goals, and understand the power of compound interest.
How we built it
Business logic implemented in python. Data visualization completed with Matplotlib and numpy.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges we faced during the project was finding a way to effectively utilize the diverse skillsets of our team members. Despite facing other setbacks such as the departure of a team member, we were able to draw upon the strengths of both our developers and designers to create a cohesive and successful project.
What we learned
Throughout the hackathon week, we learned the importance of effective collaboration and time management, especially when working with a team with a variety of skills and priorities. By focusing on open communication and finding ways to use each team member's strengths, we were able to work together effectively and deliver a successful app. We also developed strategies for effectively managing our time and balancing the various demands of the project, allowing us to stay organized and on track despite the time constraints.
