Finance Buddy

Inspiration

Being from India , country with 2nd largest population in the world , the ratio of people investing in our country is less then 1% , People are not aware of the basic financial knowledge to invest and manage their personal finances , so we want to make people financial literate ,make our country financially empowered

What it does

Finance buddy , is a web based application is personal financial assistant application which curates financial insights to the user based on their lifestyle and personal financial appetite , for example Person who's 21 has different financial goals and plans than person who's 50 year old ,so finance buddy take care of the user's lifestyle and provide them the best financial insights .

How we built it

we built it on top of React.js which is JavaScript framework built by meta , For responsive user interface we used tailwind-CSS for styling and for collaboration we used GitHub and discord , we used the web to curate the financial insights .

Challenges we ran into

We were not able to curate a team for half of the hackathon , we wondered in channels and we found a team with same goals , we decided to financially empower people around us , so we decided to go with this idea, initially we were having problem curating the ideas from the web and then displaying it ,

It was challenging to find and curate specific information according to age, demographics,etc. We had to look into a lot of articles to find relevant insights.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud of the idea itself, it really can empower a lot of people with poor financial planning. This could really be implemented at scale and can have a really high impact especially in a country like India where financial literacy is not high.

What we learned

We learned about react, tailwind & a lot of financial jargons! We learnt to work in a team, delegate tasks & collaborate on github.

What's next for Finance Buddy

we plan to work on this project even after hackNYU22 and complete it with Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence for better predictions. We plan to rewrite the application with better User Interface
