Inspiration
We were inspired by our lack of personal finance knowledge and thought it would be great to make a mobile app catering to student needs related to finance.
What it does
UC Berkeley students have a lot of resources available to them, but they aren't all in one place, so SPF aims to have important resources relating to student finance, especially within college, where many young adults are getting their first experiences with personal finance.
How we built it
The app prototype was designed using Figma. This was one of our first times designing, so it was an incredible learning experience to see how we could implement ideas into an app design. We also looked into the ASUC OCTO API, but did not have time to implement it.
Challenges we ran into
We haven't figured out how to link certain icons on Figma at the bottom to other pages in the frame, and we did not include the OCTO API in coding.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As beginners developed our technical skills and learned how to prototype and create a mock-up of what our app would look like.
What we learned
We mainly learned how to use the features of Figma and discovered design components through the workshops.
What's next for SPF
We need to polish the typography and linkages in the application so that the "buttons" work. We also want to incorporate the OCTO API after we get a bit more knowledge in coding and ultimately, incorporate it into the prototype!
