Inspiration

Have you ever been lost in Algiers? or Boumerdas? in Hydra or at Souq Ahras? Well… we were. And if this kind of thing still happens to Algerians, it goes without saying that the problem arises all the more often for tourists! Curious to visit our country, know its culture, its gastronomy, its history and its traditions? It would be more than handy to have an assistant to guide your adventures ! Especially in a smart city where everything is connected!

What it does

Fennec, our guide, simplifies compiles and recommends to you all kinds of information you need on your adventure and this saves you more time spent exploring and discovering ! Fennec's services include planning trips, finding the best restaurant for your taste and all kind of activities that suit YOU !

How we built it

We used React Native for the mobile application.
For the recommendation system, we used hybrid techniques. ## Challenges we ran into Idea: We have spent a moderate amount of time reviewing and emphasizing the problem to make sure if it is a real problem, if the end users are aware of it, and whether they would be willing to pay to have it fixed. As we discussed more and as we looked more into statistics, we quickly found out that there is indeed a huge market for such an idea in Algeria.

Unexpected events: One of our team members has fallen sick and couldn't come onsite to the venue, and another one got sick during the event! So we had a bit of difficulty coordinating our tasks and ideas, especially when we didn't get the sub theme we wanted.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of everything we could accomplish in this short period of time. We learned many things along the way by facing the challenges we did. In fact, we could come up with a slick and modern identity chart compatible with the intentions of the solution. Group coordination was a bit hard to manage at first considering the overlap of skills in the team and the absence of one of the members, but we were able to overcome it after long sessions of brainstorming.

What we learned

How to learn and work in group and effectively plan out a solution and its implementation. Since we were very short on time, we had to brush up our time-management skills one way or another, and all of that considering the lack of sleep.
