Inspiration

The inspiration behind FeatureScope is simple: to be better, to be useful, to be something. I wanted to build something that could actually help developers in real life, not just stay as an idea.

What I Learned

Through this project, I learned:

  1. What Baseline really means and how it works in the web ecosystem.
  2. That you can actually make and run browser extensions.
  3. That even with small steps, you can end up creating something useful.

How I Built It

I built this project using my ideas, with help from ChatGPT (for code snippets), and I debugged, edited and everything using GitHub Copilot and Gemini by Google. It was a mix of copy–paste, trial–and–error, and lots of persistence.

Challenges

The biggest challenge wasn’t the code — it was my low-end PC. Running WhatsApp, VS Code, and Chrome together is literally impossible on my setup. Since I have ChatGPT only on my mobile, I had to copy–paste code through WhatsApp and then switch back to VS Code. It was a lot of closing and opening apps, but I managed to keep pushing forward.

Accomplishments

The accomplishment I’m most proud of is that FeatureScope became my second successful project after Nova X — my personal offline AI that I’m developing separately. For me, it’s proof that even with limited resources, I can still bring my ideas to life.

What’s Next

What’s next for FeatureScope is to help developers directly in their workflow. Instead of Googling feature compatibility, they can just use the extension and instantly know if something is in Baseline. Hopefully, this can save time and reduce frustration for web developers.

AT THE END

At the end, this project taught me that building is all about consistency than resources.
