Inspiration
For this hackathon, I wanted to create something that promotes sustainable agriculture and educates players about the importance of food production. I have a keen interest in farming, and I saw this as an opportunity to combine my passion for agriculture with game development.
What it does
The web game I created is a farm simulation that allows players to experience the process of farming. In the game, players can purchase different crop seeds such as apples, blueberries, carrots, and wheat. They can then plant these seeds, nurture them as they grow, and finally harvest and sell the crops for profit. With the earned money, players can buy more seeds and expand their virtual farm, creating a cycle of cultivation and growth.
How we built it
To bring my game to life, I utilized HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. HTML formed the structure of the game, allowing me to define the various elements and containers that make up the game's interface, including the farm, inventory, store, and other UI components.
CSS played a crucial role in styling the game. With CSS, I was able to add visually appealing elements to the game's interface, defining colors, fonts, layouts, and other aesthetic aspects to enhance the overall look and feel.
JavaScript was the backbone of the game, handling the game logic and interactivity. I used JavaScript to manage the player's money, control the growth of crops, handle user interactions like planting and harvesting, and update the game's state based on player actions. It allowed for dynamic behavior, making the game engaging and interactive.
What's next for Farmonopoly
Some ideas for upcoming features include multiple farms, more plants and seeds, crop nurturing (watering), etc.
