Inspiration

Since the dawn of civilization managing tasks among different family members has taken valuable time out of everyone's day. Arguments ensue to determine who does what and when. This single issue has even turned family members against each other. Remember that time when your mother told you to mow the lawn while she told your sibling to just put the dishes in the dishwasher? Yeah, you must have been very suspicious in that moment. Perhaps, even thinking that you weren't the favorite child. There is no reason that any child should have to go through that kind of mental trauma. Also, there is no reason to spend time on something that can be automated to be more efficient in our daily lives.

Enter The Family Planner. The next generation of familial task delegation (or even roommates). You know Apple, but now you know the revolutionary Family Planner. With cutting edge innovation, our team was inspired to be the change that we wanted to see in the world: greater efficiency and enhanced mental health. Nobody hates you, you just need a little better luck next task allocation!

What it does

The Family Planner allocates tasks randomly to each member (or user as it is called on the site). Tasks are divided into two different types: daily recurring tasks and non-recurring tasks. As the user, one can add or delete different types of tasks and allocate them to each family member.

Simple. Easy to use. Easy to Digest.

How we built it

Built using the latest technologies in React, Typescript, JavaScript, CSS, and Supabase (Firebase).

Challenges we ran into

With every revolution comes its challenges. The Family Planner, like every great revolution, had its challenges as well. As pioneers in this space, we ran into problems executing our wonderful plans for this project. Many of these ideas were out of scope, so it was a struggle to figure out ideas that were in scope for our allotted amount of time. Other areas we had problems with were with managing states across child and parents classes in the code hierarchy and a few bugs at the end.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Starting the next revolution and solving a real-life problem that we have.

What we learned

Innovation. Entrepreneurship. Teamwork. Focus. React. Front End.

What's next for The Family Planner

Finishing what we started. We want to bring The Family Planner to everyone. Soon you will be able to have your own family account that can be accessed from anywhere in the world. We will also be adding new methods of task allocation and allowing families to allocate tasks based on their unique schedules.
